The Real Reason You Can Trust Pet Medicine!
Ask just about anyone on the street who regulates medications that a human takes and they can quickly tell you that it is the Food and Drug Administration. But ask the same thing about pet medicine and you'll most likely get a blank stare. So how do we know that our pets are getting safe, regulated medications and that they have been properly checked and tested before being sold to veterinarians and consumers?

mpeg videos in Windows Mwdia Player won't play (5 replies, VIP)
I'm running XP Professional. 2.2 GHz P4 processor, 1024 MB Ram, 120GB hard drive. Whenever I try to open an mpeg video, the media player goes through the searching for codec, says it failed to download the codec, then says "playing", but the screen is blank no audio or video. I checked for updates but there are none. I tried reinstalling Media Player but it doesn't change. It worked previously, an...

While doing some research for a presentation I’m giving about eBook publishing to a local writers’s group next week, I came across a truly excellent article on the philosophies underlying the business of eBook publishing, from a writer’s point of view. Cory Doctorow is a science fiction writer who has a lot to say about writing and the future of books (and eBooks). He gave this presentation at the O'Reilly & Associates Emerging Technology Conference earlier this year. Check it out.

FITC Conference
I presented Avalon yesterday at FITC, a very cool conference. It has both creative and technical tracks and is attended by lots of people think on the edge of UI design. For example, check out this site http://www.moock.org/ -- perhaps the only site out there with a blank homepage -- but stick around, there more here than meets the eye. The conference has been great -- nice to work with people who are as fired up about design and philosophy as they are about code...
