To change tack slightly, if you're doing it for game design and you can stand less-than-perfect prototypes then you should think of buying a box of blank playing cards. I bought a box of 1000 in the UK for £10 about three years ago and I'm still working my way through them (I think they've done for 8 or 9 prototypes now as well as flashcards for the kids). I find that if I print cards I get hung up on making them look pretty, whereas if I can quickly scrawl things down on a set of blank cards I can get round to the actual playtesting much more quickly. I got them from an educational supply store... can't remember exactly which but I can look it up if you're interested. Cheers, Tom

Why does scrolling in Firefox make Java apps disappear? I'm running Mac OS X 10.4.2 and Firefox 1.0.6. I've used J2SE 1.4 and 5.0. When I scroll, some Java apps will flicker and disappear. This is most troublesome at the Washington Post crosswords, something I do daily. When the initial page loads, the entire crossword is not on the screen, so I scroll down, which causes the entry part of the applet to go blank. In order to see where the boxes are again, I have to tab through each blank. Even then, the "Check, Save, Reveal" buttons are gone.

Without the floppy there's nothing you can do here, nothing to see. So how do you enable such a feature you wonder? Well I don't know. Alright just kidding Make sure you have a blank floppy disky in the drive. Start -> Run -> syskey From the Securing the Windows XP Account Database window, click the update button. The Startup Key windows will appear. Check the System Generated Password option. Check the Store Startup Key on Floppy Disk option. Click OK
Battlescape
We are finally able to announce the name for our next game, which will be 'Battlescape'. Now we can stop saying 'the next game' on the forums! We've opened a dedicated section on the forum for Battlescape discussion. The previous thread in 'General' (which was one of the most visited topics on our forum and had well over 100 posts!) has been moved and chopped up into its various subjects. We've also included some initial design information and two concept art pictures. We intend to post updates and progress information as often as we can with Battlescape so that everyone can see where we are, offer opinion and get a behind the scenes look at game development. In particular, Dave is looking for voting information on races from 1954 to 1974; make sure to check out the site to see if he's already filled in the blanks before you send information. Also, a new domain has been registered for this accumulation of TAFF history: taff.org.uk. Similar info for some of the Going Under Fan Fund races can be found on Irwin Hirsh's pages.

Expansion Confirmed And A New Comic
Although it's sort of a no-brainer, Blizzard is planning on releasing an expansion pack for WoW. There haven't been any official press releases or announcements on it, but it's nice to see a Blizzard representative confirm the expansion.
